For some people, the ability to have an alternative to pharmaceutical pain control can make the difference between constant misery and a more peaceful state of recognizing the pain but not drowning in it. This bowl was made for a family member in that situation, and I am happy that the bowl holds a place in that peace for him. It was also the first time I tried to carve/cut a complex figure in clay, with a better result than I had hoped.
